Description
Cars have always occupied a unique position. For some, they are merely a mode of transportation, for others, repositories of experiences and the ultimate symbol of personal freedom. 
The portraits of sixteen owners provide a unique window into the emotional relationship they have with their cars. The work examines not only ownership, but also care, identity, and the investment of time that transforms an automobile from transportation into something deeply personal.
The portraits with road-ready cars are juxtaposed against snapshots of a work in progress. A restoration project in which I invest time and effort to rediscover the memories of my first car, the ultimate symbol of freedom.
